Events we have conducted and initiatives we have been part of
In accordance with Government of India's campaign for cleaning India, we demonstrated our participation by organising various cleaning campaigns in and around Roorkee.
This program aims to give 90% immunization coverage in India by 2020 so as to significantly reduce child mortality rate. We provide all necessary vaccines such as BCG (for tuberclosis), Pentavalent, Measles and Rubella.
A society consisting of 8-12 local women per community, who raise awareness on issues relating to health, nutrition, water and sanitation for women living in the slums. They then share their findings and feedback with us, so we can act swiftly in resolving their issues.
As part of our Hridaya Project, we organised this event on World AIDS Day to distribute books, food and necessary supplies to the children in the slums near the main Haridwar city. This was carried out on 1 December 2013.
A part of the larger program called Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH), UDAAN focusses on educating the adolscent population about nutrition, reproductive health and hygiene, among other issues.Friends contributed to the training under this program in Roorkee.
Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA's) are primarily women selected from their respective villages (one per village/locality) who work as an interface between the community and the public health system. This program aims to develop further skills in ASHA's so they can better represent their communities. Friends contributed to the training in Roorkee.
We run special health camps quite often as an outreach to the sick and needy who aren't able to make it to our health centres. These are on going camps as part of our Urban Primary health Centres Project. We run 14 of these camps per month in different areas in Roorkee.
